Barbequing at your Halifax real estate property can be done for three seasons if you have a built in gas grill.  I have a portable gas grill that I use for such purposes.  I keep it covered in the back yard on the deck when I am not using it and in the winter months when it is too chilly to go outside and barbeque.  In the summer months, it does not get very hot, but it is still nice to barbeque on the grill.

Often, when my wife and I get home from work, we take turns cooking.  She dislikes the grill and says that I might as well use this instrument as she prefers the oven.  I do not like to cook in the oven as it heats the entire house up, although I like the idea of the house being toasty and the aroma of the food when she is cooking.  I prefer to use the grill, though, because it goes by faster. 

While my wife makes casserole dishes, I make steaks and meats on the grill.  Vegetables can be done on the grill as well as fish.   We have a lot of fish on the grill and it tastes delicious. 

You should get a grill cover for your barbeque grill if you keep it outside on your property.  This will not only protect it from the winter and rain, but also from bird droppings and other calamities.  I keep the grill covered when not in use because I do not want it to get rusted out or ruined from the cold. 

Barbequing is one of the great ways to cook on your property.  If you have a yard and a deck or patio, you should invest in a gas grill to do some barbeque cooking.

Your Halifax real estate and windows

You may be tempted to get new windows for your Halifax real estate if the windows are many years old and are not thermal paned.  If you have an older home, you might be able to save money on your energy bill if you get thermal paned windows.  I got them last year and am quite pleased with the results. 

My home was not that old and I purchased it 15 years ago.  I noticed right away that the windows were drafty and also were the types that are double hung.  This meant that to clean them, I had to go outside.  I never liked doing this and the windows needed cleaning badly.  It looked as if the former residents had not cleaned them in quite some time. 

I did clean the windows and it was quite a chore after that, I decided to get thermal pane windows.  Not only would they be easy to clean, but they would end up saving me money.  Winters can get cold here, so it was important for me to make sure I saved on my energy bills and kept the drafts out.  And those old windows were pretty drafty. 

I had a couple of estimates for new thermal pane windows.  These were from local companies.  I also asked for references.  My brother had windows installed in his home a few years ago and the company was very unreliable and didn’t show up when they said they were going to start.  Then it took them seven days to do a job that should have taken a day and a half.   He was not pleased.  This is why I wanted references for my window installer. 

I got a company that had installed some of the windows for my neighbors and seemed to do a good job.  My neighbor John vouched for them as well.  They came in at a reasonable price.  I had a choice of pop out double hung windows and casements and went with the casements.  I really like them and they are easy to keep clean. They can be cleaned from the inside of the house.  Best of all, my new windows keep the house energy efficient.

Your Halifax real estate sidewalk

Some kids wrote with chalk on my Halifax real estate sidewalk and thought that it would come away when it rained.  Of course, it didn’t and now it seems as if the sidewalk is permanently stained because of the sidewalk chalk.  I talked to my neighbor, John, who seems to know about how to keep things cleaned and he told me about a cleaning solution I could buy at the local hardware store that would rid the sidewalk of the chalk designs.

The chalk designs were faint, but still apparent, especially where the kids wrote with red.  My kids were among the children who participated in this event.  So I purchased this stuff and hosed down the sidewalk.  My neighbor was right - the stuff worked easily and the sidewalk was once again clean.  I took the sidewalk chalk away and told them that they could only use it on the asphalt.  For some reason, it seems to come out of asphalt easier than cement.  My wife thought I was being too strict and my kids thought I was an ogre.

Of course, one of the other kids in the neighborhood had the same chalk so the next day, the kids were at it again, scribbling on the sidewalk.  I told my kids that I forbade them to use the chalk and they informed me that I made it clear that I didn’t want them to use our chalk.  They said I never said anything about using other chalk from other kids. 

So I gave my kids back the chalk and scrubbed down the sidewalk again.  My neighbor, Jerry, whose kids play with mine and who provided the second tub of chalk thought this was funny.  I am not that fastidious when it comes to the property but the red chalk on the sidewalk didn’t look right.  So I sent my kids with their chalk and told them that if they wanted to draw on the pavement, they could do so at Jerry’s house.

John told me yesterday that Jerry asked him how to remove red sidewalk chalk from the sidewalk.
